First Watch, a growing restaurant chain specializing in breakfast, lunch, and brunch, has introduced its own version of the Double Decker taco. This new item comes as Taco Bell reportedly phases out its popular menu item.
In a recent press release, First Watch announced the launch of its seasonal menu, which features the Double Crunch Breakfast Tacos. Each taco consists of a crispy corn tortilla filled with scrambled cage-free eggs, hardwood smoked bacon, and hand-pulled carnitas, all wrapped in a wheat-corn tortilla stuffed with refried black beans, cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheese. The tacos are topped with fresh avocado, cilantro, homemade pico de gallo, and lime crema. They are served with a side of fresh fruit seasoned with Tajin.
Shane Schaibly, First Watch’s senior vice president of culinary strategy, stated, “Our new seasonal menu is inspired by the festive flavors of the holidays and marks the return of our popular Cinnamon Chip Pancakes. We offer a variety of comforting classics and vibrant seasonal dishes for everyone to enjoy. My personal favorite is the Double Crunch Breakfast Tacos, where we’ve added a breakfast twist to this cult classic with crispy bacon and hard-shell tortillas for an extra crunch.”
Taco Bell Phases Out Double Decker Taco
The news of First Watch’s taco comes amid rumors that Taco Bell is removing its Double Decker taco from the national menu. This item was originally intended for a limited-time offer.
On October 11, Taco Bell encouraged its customers through an Instagram post, saying, “Be like the Double Decker taco.
Here for a good time, but not a long time.” The fast-food chain had previously indicated that the reintroduced item would only be available until October 30.
According to reports from TODAY, the Double Decker taco’s run this month was also limited, following a similar promotion last December in response to customer demand, as noted by FOX 13 Seattle.
