Chipotle is set to open a new restaurant in Bixby Knolls on Wednesday, featuring the area’s first “Chipotlane,” a drive-thru lane for digital order pick-ups.
The fast-casual Mexican grill will be located at the northeast corner of Atlantic Avenue and 37th Street, taking over the site of a Carl’s Jr. that had operated there for over 50 years. Blair Cohn, executive director of the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, expressed satisfaction with the renovation of the building.
Unlike traditional drive-thrus, the Chipotlane will not allow customers to place orders on-site. Instead, it enables guests to pick up their pre-ordered meals without leaving their vehicles.
Cohn welcomed the new restaurant as a positive addition to the community. He noted that Bixby Knolls previously had a Chipotle in a shopping center near Trader Joe’s, but it closed more than five years ago.
The Bixby Knolls location will be the fourth Chipotle in Long Beach, joining another location on Spring Street in Signal Hill, just south of Interstate 405.
Chipotle at 3700 Atlantic Ave. will be open daily from 10:45 AM to 10 PM.
