Starbucks is set to launch two new drinks inspired by the popular musical Wicked. Starting Tuesday, October 22, customers can enjoy Glinda’s Pink Potion and Elphaba’s Cold Brew, just in time for the film adaptation’s release on November 22.
Glinda’s Pink Potion enhances the Mango Dragonfruit Refresher with coconut milk and freeze-dried dragonfruit. This vibrant drink features strawberry non-dairy cold foam and colorful sprinkles on top, making it even more eye-catching.
In contrast, Elphaba’s Cold Brew reflects the character’s signature colors. This drink combines peppermint-flavored cold brew with non-dairy matcha-flavored cold foam and green sprinkles, creating a visually appealing beverage.
Staff members at PEOPLE had the chance to taste both drinks and praised their flavors. The Elphaba drink received particularly positive feedback. One staffer noted that the subtle peppermint flavor blended well with the earthy matcha, creating a balanced taste that was “not overpowering, just perfect.” The drink’s layered appearance mesmerized tasters, transforming into a muted green as the colors mixed, reminiscent of “melted-witch vibes.”
Glinda’s drink stood out for its sweetness. The combination of dragonfruit and strawberry cold foam made it a favorite among younger Wicked fans seeking a lighter, less caffeinated option. The addition of crunchy sprinkles added a fun texture to both drinks.
Starting October 22, Starbucks will also offer Wicked-themed gift cards. Two weeks later, on November 7, special drinkware will be available nationwide, including pink and green cold cups with whimsical straw toppers, tumblers, keychains, and mugs inspired by characters and locations from Oz, such as Munchkinland and the Emerald City.
Starbucks isn’t the only brand celebrating Wicked. Restaurants and retailers across the country are releasing their own themed products. Walmart, for instance, has introduced microwaveable macaroni and cheese with color-changing cheese in pink or green. Target has launched a Wicked shop featuring exciting merchandise, including Stanley tumblers and themed sweaters.
Wicked will be released in two parts, with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande starring as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively.
