A branch of the American fast food chain Pizza Hut has officially closed its doors. The Pizza Hut located on Buckingham Road in Bicester permanently shut down this past weekend.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed the closure, stating, “We can confirm that our Bicester Hut has closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you are looking for a dine-in restaurant and our famous buffet, our Banbury Cross Retail Park restaurant is a short drive away. Alternatively, you can always order from our website.”
This is not the first closure for the chain in recent months; the Pizza Hut branch on Ock Street in Abingdon shut down in June 2023. At that time, the company indicated that it was “evolving” to meet the changing habits of customers. A spokesperson from Pizza Hut UK & Europe commented, “Responding to an ever-shifting consumer landscape and to meet Pizza Hut’s growth ambitions in the UK, our business and operating models are evolving. We are confident in the ongoing success of one of Britain’s favourite businesses and we’re looking forward to sharing more details about our growth plans in due course.”
Pizza Hut, which has been a staple in the UK for over 40 years, is known for inventing the pan pizza and the stuffed crust pizza. The chain also offers free, unlimited trips to its world-famous Salad Station.
In 2020, the company faced significant challenges due to the impact of Covid-19 on the hospitality sector, leading to the closure of 29 restaurants and the loss of 450 jobs. This included the closure of the George Street location in Oxford.
As Pizza Hut continues to adapt to the evolving dining landscape, it remains committed to its growth and the success of its remaining branches across the UK.
