Taco Bell has announced the return of its popular Double Decker Taco to menus across the country for a limited time. This item, which first debuted in the 1990s, was discontinued in 2019. In a playful Instagram post on October 11, the fast-food chain reminded customers to “be like the double decker taco. here for a good time, but not a long time,” signaling that this beloved taco will only be available until October 30.

Fans of the Double Decker last had a chance to order it in December 2023 when Taco Bell briefly brought it back due to popular demand, according to FOX 13 Seattle. The Double Decker Taco features a crunchy taco filled with refried beans and wrapped in a soft flour tortilla, priced at $2.

This revival is part of Taco Bell’s broader initiative to reintroduce fan-favorite items through what they call a “nostalgia menu.” The company conducted a test run from August 15 to August 21 at three locations in Southern California—Barranca, Brea, and Fullerton—featuring various iconic dishes from its history.

Taylor Montgomery, Taco Bell’s chief marketing officer, expressed excitement about this initiative. “Thanks to our rich history, we have a vault of craveable products our fans have become passionate about,” she stated. “Now, we’re thrilled to unite those who fondly remember these items with those who have yet to experience them.”

In addition to the Double Decker Taco, Taco Bell is testing new menu items in Ohio and North Carolina. Recently, they introduced the Strawberry Passionfruit Aguas Refrescas in Charlotte and the Caliente Cantina Chicken Burrito in Cincinnati. The burrito features a new hot sauce made from red pepper and ghost chili pepper and is priced at $5.99.

The Strawberry Passionfruit Aguas Refrescas is available for $3.99 and combines green tea with dehydrated strawberry chunks. This drink is part of Taco Bell’s expanding beverage options that have included other fruit-infused drinks tested earlier this year.

Furthermore, Taco Bell has temporarily brought back its Big Cheez-It Menu following strong demand after its national launch in June. The Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme now features even more cheese.
