Chick-fil-A is set to open its newest location in Johnson County at the site of a former Applebee’s on Shawnee Mission Parkway. The grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8.
The new restaurant, located at 11500 Shawnee Mission Parkway, will primarily focus on drive-thru service. It will feature a dedicated lane for mobile order pickups made through the Chick-fil-A app. While there will be limited outdoor seating for 24 customers, the restaurant will not offer indoor dining.
Chick-fil-A will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This location marks the first drive-thru-focused Chick-fil-A in Johnson County and the eighth overall in the area. It will also be the first Chick-fil-A in Shawnee.
The Shawnee location follows the closure of the Applebee’s, which operated for over 33 years before shutting down in spring 2023. The new restaurant is expected to create approximately 80 jobs in the community.
Drew Severns, who previously helped launch a Chick-fil-A in Lenexa, will manage this new site. He expressed excitement about opening a restaurant in his hometown, viewing it as an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported him.
In addition to its Kansas locations, Chick-fil-A operates three restaurants across the state line in Kansas City, Missouri.
