McDonald’s Japan is introducing new sweet potato caramel chocolate pies just in time for autumn, and they are sure to delight dessert lovers.
September has been a busy month for fast-food chains in Japan. Many have been celebrating the traditional tsukimi, or moon-viewing season, by incorporating moon-themed items into their menus. This includes burgers topped with fried eggs that resemble full moons and various sweets inspired by the harvest moon.
As the moon-viewing festivities wind down, McDonald’s Japan is ready to unveil its latest seasonal treat: the Sweet Potato and Caramel Sankaku (Triangle) Choco Pie. This new addition is part of a popular line that has been around for 18 years.
The pie features a delicious filling of sweet potato cream and chocolate cream, mixed with crunchy caramel-flavored corn snacks. The crust itself is also enhanced with caramel powder, creating a rich and sweet flavor perfect for the cooler fall weather.
In addition to the new pie, McDonald’s Japan is bringing back the Black Sankaku Choko Pie. This fan favorite has been updated with a new recipe that includes crushed almonds in the chocolate cream filling. While it may look like a standard chocolate pie at first glance, it offers a touch of sophistication.
To promote these new menu items, McDonald’s Japan has enlisted actress Sairi Ito and boy band Enhypen’s Ni-Ki for a new advertising campaign. The duo can be seen enjoying the pies amidst falling autumn leaves.
The Black Sankaku Choko Pie will be priced at 160 yen (approximately $1.15), while the Sweet Potato and Caramel version will cost 180 yen.
Both pies will be available starting October 9. The Black Sankaku Choko Pie is set to remain on the menu until late December, but the Sweet Potato and Caramel pie will only be available until early November.
