Wendy’s Launches Boo! Book Campaign to Support Foster Care Adoptions

by Nick

As Halloween approaches, Wendy’s is combining the excitement of the season with a meaningful cause. From now until October 31, the fast-food chain will donate at least 90% of all Boo! Book sales to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This initiative aims to help find permanent families for young people waiting in foster care.

Customers can purchase the Boo! Book for just $1. This coupon book includes five free Jr. Frosty coupons and a $1.99 Wendy’s Kids’ Meal with any purchase. The books are ideal for sharing with trick-or-treaters, classrooms, and friends. Proceeds will support the Foundation’s mission to increase the number of adoptions of children in North America’s foster care system.

Tanya Kimmell, District Manager at WTC Ventures, expressed the importance of this partnership. “Since our partnership began, the Wendy’s family has been committed to making more family moments possible,” she said. “Every child should be able to grow up with connections, opportunities, and memories.”

For over 30 years, Wendy’s has made a significant impact on the lives of children in foster care through its collaboration with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The Foundation was established in 1992 by Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, who was adopted himself. Its goal is to ensure that every child has a permanent home and a loving family. One of its key programs, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, employs adoption professionals who focus on finding permanent families for overlooked children in foster care.

Kash Granger, a recruiter for Wendy’s Wonderful Kids in Washington, highlighted the dedication of the program. “Recruiters are laser-focused on finding legal permanency for children waiting in foster care who are often overlooked—like teenagers, children with special needs, and siblings,” Granger explained. “We give every child the time, resources, and support they deserve.”

Once a young person is referred to Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Foundation uses an evidence-based, child-focused recruitment model. Recruiters respect the child’s voice, privacy, and dignity while searching for potential families. They start within the child’s familiar circles of family, friends, and neighbors before reaching out to the broader community.

In addition to the Boo! Books, Wendy’s will introduce Frosty Key Tags in November. Customers can enjoy a free Jr. Frosty with every purchase for an entire year, with 90 cents of every dollar raised going to the Foundation. Last year, Wendy’s raised over $21 million, including nearly $427,000 from the Seattle area alone.

Celebrate Halloween at Wendy’s while making a difference in the lives of children in foster care. Your contributions can help build a brighter future for our community’s youth by finding them permanent, loving homes.
