MASON CITY, Iowa – The first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Mason City is set to open on October 3. Located along Highway 18 in western Mason City, the new restaurant will be operated by local Owner-Operator Kevin Melott.
Melott, who previously served as an Environmental Health Technician in the U.S. Navy, has a background in franchising and hospitality. He spent over ten years opening ice cream shops nationwide before being introduced to the Chick-fil-A brand by Reid Dorsett, a local Owner-Operator of another Chick-fil-A.
“Reid believed in my potential and supported my growth within the company,” Melott said. “I fell in love with the moments of care I experienced in the restaurant and look forward to providing growth opportunities for our team members.”
The Mason City Chick-fil-A will offer dine-in, drive-thru, and carry-out services from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A has donated $25,000 to Feeding America. This donation will be distributed to the Food Bank of Iowa to help combat hunger in the community.
Melott’s restaurant will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program. This initiative redistributes surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, and food banks. To date, more than 30 million meals have been provided through this program across over 2,200 Chick-fil-A locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Additionally, Chick-fil-A Mason City plans to recognize 100 local heroes by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
“With the opening of our first Chick-fil-A in Mason City, we are grateful for the chance to serve our guests,” Melott said.
“My family and I are proud to call Mason City home, and I look forward to creating an environment of care with great food and exceptional service.
