Chick-fil-A has introduced a new offering: cups of pimento cheese, which were previously available only as a sandwich topping. This limited-time cheesy side is now being sold in two sizes—regular ($4) and catering size ($6.50)—for both online and in-store orders, starting September 23.
According to a press release, the decision to sell pimento cheese as a side was driven by customer demand. “Chick-fil-A fans made it a thing, so they made it a side,” the release stated. The chain suggests various ways to enjoy the pimento cheese, including dipping nuggets and fries, or spreading it on biscuits, crackers, and sandwiches.
One popular sandwich that features this cheesy spread is the honey pepper pimento chicken sandwich. This item returned to the menu on August 26 after a successful run last year, where it became the most-ordered limited-time item. The sandwich includes original or spicy chicken topped with honey, pimento cheese, and pickled jalapeños, served on a toasted bun.
In related news, Taco Bell has also reintroduced its own cheesy treat—the Big Cheez-It. As of September 20, customers can purchase this oversized cracker (16 times the usual size) individually for $1. Taco Bell’s menu includes Cheez-It-infused items like the Crunchwrap Supreme and Tostada.
The updated Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme now features two Cheez-Its instead of one, wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla along with beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. The Big Cheez-It Tostada remains unchanged from its previous offering, featuring an XL Cheez-It topped with beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream for $3.
Both Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell are tapping into the growing consumer interest in cheesy options, providing fans with new ways to enjoy their favorite fast-food items.
