Manchester is set to see the opening of its first Whataburger by the end of 2025, according to developers who spoke during a city planning meeting on September 16.
Senior Project Manager Charles “Chip” Ashley from Kimley-Horn presented the restaurant’s site plan to the Manchester Planning Commission, which approved the proposal unanimously.
The new Whataburger will be situated next to Chick-fil-A on Hillsboro Highway and will feature a double drive-through lane, along with over 30 parking spaces for customers. The restaurant will have two entrances—one on Hillsboro Highway and another on Joe Hickerson Road.
Despite concerns about traffic, the Tennessee Department of Transportation did not require a traffic study for the project, according to the Manchester Codes Department.
One issue that remains unresolved is the location’s proximity to a wastewater system prone to overflows. It is unclear whether this could affect the restaurant’s projected opening timeline.
Founded in 1950 in San Antonio, Whataburger operates more than 1,000 locations across 16 states. Known for its 24/7 service, the restaurant also offers breakfast from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.
