JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) – The KFC Foundation has made a significant contribution to the Buckhorn Children and Family Services Center in Perry County, donating $10,000 to support the organization’s efforts.
Doug Knipp, a representative of the KFC Foundation, highlighted the center’s impact on the local community, particularly its work with children.
“We have an organization like the Buckhorn Children and Family Services that has supported kids through every stage of their lives,” Knipp said.
The donation will be used to build a greenhouse, which will serve as a practical learning tool for the children at the center.
The project aims to teach life skills and help prepare the children for their futures beyond the center.
“The greenhouse will be integrated with our kids’ garden and become part of their school curriculum,” said Billy Smith, CEO of Buckhorn Children and Family Services. “Agriculture and horticulture lessons will connect to cooking classes and other activities, all designed to teach life skills and ease their transition after leaving our facilities.”
Buckhorn Center officials also extended an open invitation to anyone interested in volunteering their time to support the children.
