As the fast food industry continues to battle for customers amid rising inflation, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and KFC have both launched new $5 value meal deals.
Popeyes’ $5 Fried Chicken Deal
In celebration of National Chicken Month, Popeyes is now offering customers three pieces of its signature fried chicken for just $5. The company, which originally launched in 1972 as “Chicken on the Run” before rebranding, says it noticed “value wars” taking off earlier this summer among competitors.
“As consumers look for more ways to enjoy their favorite meals without breaking the bank, Popeyes is excited to join this conversation centered around guest satisfaction,” the company stated in a press release.
KFC’s Expanded $5 Taste of KFC Deals
Not to be outdone, KFC has also expanded its $5 value meal offerings.
In addition to its existing deals, the chain has added two new $5 options:
An eight-piece chicken nugget meal with Secret Recipe Fries and two dipping sauces
A Famous Bowl made with chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, and a blend of three shredded cheeses
KFC customers can also still get the two-piece drum and thigh $5 deal that includes mashed potatoes, gravy, and a biscuit.
“As customers are looking for more value from brands, we’re expanding our Taste of KFC lineup with new KFC fan favorites like our nuggets and Famous Bowls, each for just $5,” said Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer of KFC U.S.
With inflation continuing to impact consumer spending, restaurants are pulling out all the stops to attract customers.
McDonald’s launched a $5 value meal in June that runs through the end of the year, while many chains are offering deals for National Cheeseburger Day this week.
