McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 value meal deal until December at most U.S. locations, reflecting the growing demand for affordable dining options among inflation-weary customers.
The fast-food giant initially launched the $5 meal deal in June as a limited-time offer, but it quickly became a summer-long promotion. By July, McDonald’s announced that the vast majority of its restaurants would continue offering the deal through August.
The $5 meal includes a choice between a McChicken sandwich or a McDouble cheeseburger, a small order of fries, a 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, and a small soft drink.
Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, stated, “Together with our franchisees, we’re committed to keeping our prices as affordable as possible, which is why we’re doubling down with even more ways to save.”
Other fast-food chains, such as Starbucks, Burger King, and Wendy’s, have also responded to declining customer visits and reduced spending by introducing similar value meal deals to attract diners.
In addition to extending the $5 value meal, McDonald’s has announced a variety of fall promotions, including:
$0.50 Double Cheeseburgers for National Cheeseburger Day on September 18
A $2 McCrispy sandwich for National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day on November 9
The extension of the $5 value meal deal is a strategic move by McDonald’s to maintain its position as a leader in value and affordability, as customers continue to prioritize cost-saving measures in the face of ongoing inflation.
