Chick-fil-A is set to expand its presence in Michigan by adding 25 to 30 new restaurant locations across the state. The Atlanta-based fast-food chain announced the plans on Wednesday, aiming to create over 2,500 jobs in the process.
Currently, there are 28 Chick-fil-A restaurants operating in Michigan.
The new locations will include restaurants in Chesterfield Township, Roseville, Taylor, and Fort Gratiot, which are expected to open in the fall or winter. Additional locations are planned for Detroit, Auburn Hills, Lincoln Park, Orion Township, Clinton Township, Canton, and Ann Arbor, although specific opening dates have not been provided.
One notable location is a licensed restaurant in the First National Building in downtown Detroit, which was anticipated to open earlier this summer but is still under construction. Looking ahead, new restaurants are also slated for Lansing, Jackson, Saginaw, and Benton Harbor in 2025.
Scott Mayson, the area director for Chick-fil-A’s Midwest region, stated, “When looking to identify new opportunities to serve guests and support local communities, expanding our presence in Michigan was a clear next step.” He highlighted the dedication of local owner-operators in delivering quality food and building relationships within their communities.
Chick-fil-A has about a dozen restaurants in the metro Detroit area, stretching from Woodhaven to Novi to Shelby Township. Each new location is expected to create between 80 and 120 jobs. The chain is well-known for its chicken sandwiches, which are either fried or grilled and served on a bun with pickles and Chick-fil-A sauce.
In addition to job creation, Chick-fil-A has a history of community support. The company donates $25,000 to Feeding America for each new restaurant opening. Since 2020, Chick-fil-A has contributed over $450,000 to Michigan partners like Gleaners Community Food Bank and Forgotten Harvest. Local restaurants also focus on minimizing food waste by redirecting surplus food to soup kitchens and food banks. Since 2020, more than 261,000 meals have been donated.
Chick-fil-A has consistently ranked as a favorite among fast-food chains. For the tenth consecutive year, it topped the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s 2024 report released in June. The company, founded in 1967 by S. Truett Cathy, is headquartered in Atlanta and operates over 3,000 locations across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
