Burger King has announced it will directly compensate customers affected by the ongoing TMON payment crisis by reissuing its mobile vouchers.
The fast-food giant’s mobile vouchers, previously sold through the troubled e-commerce platform, are among several gift cards rendered unusable after TMON declared in late July that it was unable to pay sellers due to a liquidity crisis. These new vouchers will be distributed to affected customers starting Tuesday and will be valid at 390 Burger King locations directly managed by BKR. BKR, a subsidiary of private equity firm Affinity Equity Partners, operates the chain in Korea.
The reissued vouchers will have a uniform expiration date of November 30, regardless of the original expiry dates, according to a statement from the company.
For discontinued gift tokens, Burger King will provide replacements based on the original product price, but no refunds will be offered for the reissued vouchers.
“We chose to reissue the gift tokens to minimize the damage and anxiety experienced by customers due to the [Qoo10] crisis,” said BKR CEO Lee Dong-hyeong in a press release on Monday.
