Wendy’s is reportedly set to introduce a Krabby Patty Burger in collaboration with the beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. According to Popverse, this limited-edition burger will debut on October 8 at select locations, accompanied by a themed Frosty.
A leaked message from Wendy’s, shared on Reddit, reveals that the Krabby Patty will feature a “secret Krabby Patty Sauce,” designed to capture the essence of the iconic sandwich from the show. The launch is expected to include a vanilla-flavored Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, along with a Pineapple Mango purée.
Neither Paramount nor Wendy’s has responded to requests for comments regarding this collaboration. RetailWire has reached out to both companies for clarification and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
This rumored partnership comes at a time when Wendy’s is facing scrutiny over its pricing strategies. CEO Kirk Tanner recently announced plans to implement dynamic pricing at the fast-food chain, which has sparked controversy. Tanner stated that Wendy’s will invest $20 million by 2025 in digital menu boards to test dynamic pricing techniques.
His comments quickly went viral, leading to accusations of price gouging amid rising fast-food prices. Many compared Wendy’s approach to Uber’s surge pricing model, prompting public outrage.
In response, Wendy’s clarified that it does not intend to raise in-restaurant prices during peak hours. The company issued a statement 12 days after Tanner’s remarks, explaining that the comments had been “misconstrued” and that dynamic pricing should not be confused with surge pricing.
Wendy’s emphasized that prices will not increase “when our customers are visiting us most.” The company added that digital menu boards would allow for flexible menu offerings and discounts during slower times, reinforcing its commitment to providing high-quality food at a great value.
