Taco Bell is poised to take on Starbucks with a new line of Frappuccino-inspired drinks, currently undergoing testing in the United States. This move marks the fast-food chain’s entry into the realm of barista-style beverages, signaling a shift towards more sophisticated drink offerings.
The new range, known as Churro Chiller Coolers, made its debut at Live Más, Taco Bell’s annual fan conference, in 2023.
These beverages are now available for tasting, offering four distinctive flavors:
Sweet Vanilla Churro Chiller Cooler: A rich vanilla shake drizzled with purple vanilla-flavored sauce, topped with cold foam and sprinkled with crunchy cinnamon churro pieces.
Mexican Chocolate Churro Chiller Cooler: A chocolate shake with a generous swirl of chocolate sauce inside the cup, finished with cold foam and churro pieces. This drink embraces the deep, robust flavor of traditional Mexican chocolate.
Wild Strawberry Churro Chiller Cooler: A thick strawberry shake layered with strawberry sauce, capped with cold foam, and garnished with crunchy cinnamon churro pieces.
Dulce De Leche Churro Chiller Cooler: Combining the sweet, caramel-like flavor of dulce de leche with coffee and sauce, this shake is topped with cold foam and churro pieces, offering a taste of a popular Mexican dessert.
These drinks were initially tested at a single U.S. location in 2023, but they have now expanded to select markets in Dallas, Texas, and Chicago, Illinois. As their availability grows, a nationwide release could be on the horizon. For now, customers can check the Taco Bell app to see if these drinks are offered at a nearby location.
Taco Bell is already known for its extensive range of iced beverages, including the fan-favorite Baja Blast. However, this new venture into dessert-like drinks represents a significant expansion of their menu, which currently includes only a few sweet options like Cinnabon Delights, churros, and cinnamon twists.
