On Wednesday, August 7, Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in the Town of Greenburgh at Midway Shopping Center, 913B Central Park Ave., which has a Scarsdale mailing address. The new outlet offers dine-in, carry-out, catering, and delivery services, operating from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. This opening follows the recent debut of another Chick-fil-A along Central Avenue in Yonkers. Plans are underway to establish a third location near the Westchester County Center on land that formerly housed a CVS.
Founded in 1967 by S. Truett Cathy, Chick-fil-A Inc., headquartered in College Park, Georgia, has grown to become the third-largest quick-service restaurant chain in the United States. The company employs over 200,000 team members across more than 3,000 locations in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Chick-fil-A has announced plans to expand into Europe and Asia by 2030. Despite recent controversies, including opposition to same-sex marriage and boycotts, the chain remains the leading fast-food brand in the U.S. with the highest per-store sales.
Joshua Riley, the new owner-operator of Chick-fil-A Greenburgh, will oversee all daily operations, including hiring approximately 100 full- and part-time staff. Riley will also engage with local organizations and tailor the restaurant’s philanthropic efforts to meet community needs.
Riley’s Chick-fil-A journey began 15 years ago as a team member while he was studying at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. After a decade in the business, Riley participated in the Chick-fil-A Leadership Development Program, which provides future leaders with hands-on experience alongside local owner-operators. This program brought Riley to the tristate area, where he fell in love with New York. He and his wife, Pangshua, along with their children Jas and Sophia, are now excited to open the Greenburgh franchise.
In celebration of the opening, Riley is honoring 100 local heroes in Westchester County by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year. Additionally, Chick-fil-A Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support Feeding Westchester, a partner food bank. The Greenburgh location will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, donating surplus food to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks, and nonprofits.
“I took a chance on Chick-fil-A when I was a college student, and today I am thrilled to open our first restaurant in Greenburgh,” said Riley. “After nearly 20 years with Chick-fil-A, it’s an honor to bring our signature menu items and warm hospitality to this community. My family and I are deeply grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to serving our neighbors in Westchester County.”
