Customer Charged After Incident at Jack in the Box Over Missing Chicken Strip & Ranch

A woman in St. Louis, Missouri is facing assault charges after allegedly running over a Jack in the Box employee who had replaced her missing chicken strip but failed to include ranch dressing in her order.

Talanye Carter, 41, visited the Jack in the Box on July 16 and reported a missing chicken strip from an order she had received the previous Saturday night, according to court documents.

According to the probable cause statement, the store manager replaced the missing chicken strip to satisfy Carter. However, Carter became upset when she did not receive ranch dressing with her replacement order and allegedly spat in the manager’s face.

Following the incident, as Carter left the restaurant, the manager used a different exit to record Carter’s license plate. When Carter noticed this, she confronted the manager, allegedly saying, “You’re trying to get charges put on me?” Carter then got into her car, reversed, and accelerated backward, striking the manager’s left foot and ankle, causing her to fall to the ground.

Carter fled the scene but was apprehended by officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on July 17.

According to court filings, the manager suffered visible swelling and bruising to her ankle from being struck by Carter’s vehicle.

Carter faces charges of second-degree assault, classified as a felony, and fourth-degree assault, classified as a misdemeanor, according to Missouri court records.

She has been held at the St. Louis Justice Center since July 17 without bond, according to state court records.
