Del Taco has claimed the top spot on USA Today’s “Best Fast Food Restaurants” list, surpassing Chick-fil-A. This year’s rankings, determined by a reader vote, place the California-based Mexican fast-food chain at No. 1.
USA Today praised Del Taco for its diverse menu, which includes breakfast options and plant-based items. The chain expressed its gratitude in a statement to FOX Business, calling it an “honor” to be named the top fast food restaurant.
Del Taco did not appear on last year’s list. Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A, which held the top position previously, is now ranked No. 3.
USA Today’s ranking process involves editors selecting a shortlist of nominees, which is then put to a reader vote.
This year’s top 10 fast-food chains are:

- Chick-fil-A
- In-N-Out Burger
- Hardee’s
- Captain D’s
- Taco Bell
- Popeyes
- Zaxby’s
- Arby’s
Notably, some prominent fast-food brands from last year’s top 10, such as McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s, did not make the list this year. The rankings are part of USA Today’s annual 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
