Almost all McDonald’s outlets in Japan are back in operation after a cash register glitch forced the temporary closure of about 900 stores. This was confirmed by McDonald’s Co. (Japan).
The company clarified that the disruption was due to a system failure, not a cyberattack. This incident followed a large-scale service outage in March that affected McDonald’s outlets in Japan and other countries.
The cash register issue, first detected on Friday morning, impacted up to 30 percent of the company’s 3,000 outlets nationwide. Additionally, some stores couldn’t process orders through the official smartphone app.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused,” the fast-food chain operator stated.
These disruptions coincided with a global technology outage linked to Microsoft computers, affecting many companies in Japan and various industries worldwide.
