Arby’s, known for its distinct offerings since its establishment in 1964, is reintroducing its Potato Cakes after removing them from the menu in 2021. These cakes, which were overshadowed by the popularity of curly fries introduced in 1988, are making a comeback due to high demand from fans.
Available for a limited time, the Potato Cakes are priced at $2.39 for a set of three. Over the past year, Arby’s noted that the item has been widely discussed on social media, with mentions exceeding 10,000 times. The chain, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Inspire Brands, has even seen dedicated fan accounts emerge.
To promote the return of Potato Cakes, Arby’s has enlisted actor Kyle MacLachlan, who stars in a marketing campaign highlighting a fictional society called the Order of Potato Cakes.
“As a Potato Cakes devotee myself, I’m proud to inform all Potato Cakes lovers about the return of our cherished menu item,” MacLachlan stated in a release. “We’ve been waiting three long years, and our voices have finally been heard. Potato Cakes are back at Arby’s thanks to The Powers that Beef!”
MacLachlan is featured in a series of social media videos, with the first video released on Monday drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of Twin Peaks, a series he starred in during the 1990s.
Arby’s is further boosting the comeback of Potato Cakes with merchandise available on arbysshop.com starting July 9. Items include a Potato Cake amber necklace, candle, enamel pin, T-shirt, and hoodie.
“Arby’s is known for offering bold, delicious menu items — from our iconic roast beef sandwiches and Jamocha Shake to special limited-time offerings like the Bourbon BBQ Sandwiches,” said Rita Patel, Arby’s brand president. “Now, we’re reintroducing Potato Cakes, one of our most requested and beloved items, to celebrate the true love, passion, and devotion our guests have shown for them day in and day out.”
Arby’s has not specified how long Potato Cakes will be available, so fans are encouraged to enjoy them while they can during this limited-time offering.
