Whitehall, Ohio — The Wendy’s located at the corner of E. Main Street and N. Hamilton has permanently closed as of Sunday, June 30, 2024. Signs posted at the site confirm the closure, and photos shared on Whitehall Facebook groups show the restaurant boarded up, with Wendy’s signage removed.
A spokesperson for Wendy’s attributed the closure to the expiration of the lease for the building. Employees from this location have been relocated to nearby Wendy’s branches temporarily, with plans to reopen at another site in the community in the near future.
The property, located at 4595 E. Main St., is now listed as available for new tenants starting September 1, 2024, according to Black Gate Partners, a commercial real estate firm. The building, constructed in 1983, offers 2,542 square feet of space and features amenities such as a drive-through and parking, situated on a total of 0.58 acres.
Records indicate that the most recent lease for the property was held by Jam Restaurants, LLC, until their cessation of operations in 2020, as documented by Ohio Secretary of State, Frank LaRose. Interestingly, this closure comes just two miles away from another Wendy’s on E. Main St., which gained attention earlier this year following an incident involving an alleged assault on an employee.
The property’s appraisal by the Franklin County Auditor in 2023 valued it at $651,400. Black Gate Partners’ lease brochure currently advertises negotiable rent rates for potential renters interested in the property.
