A man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly robbing a Taco Bell” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>Taco Bell in Fishers, stealing a car, and leading officers on a vehicle chase.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a call at the Taco Bell on Allisonville Road near 116th Street. Several males had reportedly climbed through the drive-thru window, brandishing guns and demanding money.
One suspect left the scene in a Dodge Challenger belonging to a robbery victim, according to the Fishers Police Department.
No employees were harmed during the incident, police reported.
While investigating the robbery, officers spotted the stolen car heading south on Allisonville Road. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled into Marion County. The driver, who was the sole occupant, eventually abandoned the car, leading to a foot pursuit. A police K-9 was used during the chase and was ahead of the officers when a shot was fired, according to the news release.
Officers apprehended the man with the help of the K-9. He was medically evaluated before being taken to Hamilton County Jail. Police found “several pieces of evidence belonging to the victims,” and a Glock with a machine gun conversion device was located near the arrest site.
During a police interview, the man admitted to his role in the robbery and to firing the shot, according to police.
Witnesses identified the Indianapolis man, who now faces 12 preliminary charges. Detectives are still searching for the other suspects involved and urge anyone with information to contact officers at 317-595-3300.
