Burger King” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>Burger King in Germany has taken a significant step towards promoting vegan options by reducing the prices of all plant-based products and meals below those containing meat. This move aims to encourage more people to choose vegan options and make veganism more accessible.
Under the new motto “Plant-Based for Everyone,” Burger King Germany has lowered the prices of its vegan items like the Whopper, chicken nuggets, and Long Chicken sandwich by 10 cents. This decision is in line with consumer preferences in Germany, where a substantial portion of people find plant-based alternatives expensive, according to a recent EU-backed survey.
CEO Jörg Ehmer highlighted Burger King’s long-standing commitment to vegetarian alternatives, dating back to the mid-1990s. He emphasized the company’s goal of offering a wide range of plant-based options without compromising on taste.\
Burger King Germany boasts the largest plant-based menu among quick-service restaurants in the country.
In addition to the price reductions, Burger King is collaborating with The Vegetarian Butcher, a plant-based meat brand owned by Unilever, to introduce a new flower-shaped patty for its vegan beef burgers. This innovation aims to distinguish between conventional beef and plant-based options more clearly.
The partnership with The Vegetarian Butcher, established in 2019, extends across various markets globally. Burger King has already seen success with its Veggie King Deluxe during Veganuary and plans to expand its plant-based offerings further.
Burger King’s focus on taste is crucial, as flavor is a significant factor driving consumers to choose plant-based alternatives.
This strategic move solidifies Burger King’s position as a leader in offering vegan options in the European fast-food sector.
