Iconic Arby’s Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Closes Its Doors

by Nick

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES — Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood has undergone a noticeable change as the longstanding Arby’s restaurant has shut down, leaving the premises boarded up.

For decades, the restaurant’s iconic giant brown derby hat, illuminated with lights, was a recognizable landmark along Sunset Boulevard. However, its era has now come to a close.

The sign beneath the hat bids farewell to Hollywood, expressing gratitude for 55 years of operation. Factors contributing to the closure include the impact of COVID-19, declining customer footfall, inflation, and the implementation of a $20 minimum wage.

Gary Husch, the general manager whose family has owned the restaurant since its inception, noted the outpouring of support from both in-person visitors and online well-wishers.

“We’ve received hundreds of posts online that were unexpected,” Husch remarked. “The overwhelming positive feedback we’ve received is truly heartening, and we are immensely grateful.”

The future of the property remains uncertain, as Husch is unsure about the plans of the property owner.

Despite this closure, Arby’s enthusiasts can find solace in knowing that several other locations across Southern California continue to operate.
