A new digital map called the McCheapest Map shows the different prices of McDonald’s Big Macs across the United States.
It was created by Sacha Fournier, an analyst from Britain. The map highlights affordable options in the South and Midwest regions, contrasting with higher prices in places like New York and California. Amid worries about rising prices, McDonald’s reassures customers about modest price increases in a letter from its president.
Sacha Fournier, a British analyst, has made a new digital tool called “The McCheapest Map.” This tool displays the different costs of Big Macs at McDonald’s restaurants all over the country. The aim of the app is to help people see where they can get the best deals and where prices are highest.
On the map, green dots show the cheapest options, while red dots mark more expensive places. Most of the green dots are in the South and Midwest. States like New York, California, and Arizona have many red dots, indicating higher prices.
According to the McCheapest Map, Stigler, Oklahoma, has the cheapest Big Mac in the country, priced at $3.49. On the other hand, Lee, Massachusetts, has the most expensive Big Mac at $8.09.
Concerns about prices going up are growing. Reports of a single Big Mac meal costing over $19 have angered customers. The company acknowledges that prices have gone up in some places, but they say it’s due to things like higher ingredient costs and wages. McDonald’s president Joe Erlinger assured customers that price increases have been reasonable.
In an open letter, Erlinger talked about the complaints on social media about high prices. He mentioned that despite challenges like the pandemic and supply chain issues, the average cost of a Big Mac has only gone up from $4.39 to $5.29 since 2019.
The McCheapest Map helps customers make informed choices about where to eat. This digital tool shows the changing price differences so people can decide where to get the best value.
