LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After several years of planning, Chick-fil-A has received site plan approval from the Town of Colonie Planning Board to move forward with a new restaurant in Latham. The location will be built on the former Brick House Tavern + Tap site at Latham Farms, located at 579 Troy Schenectady Road.
The approval was granted during a planning board meeting on April 22. The board determined that the project would not cause any significant adverse environmental impacts. However, developers must address all outstanding engineering comments before building permits are issued.
Chick-fil-A’s plans for the Latham site were first presented to the planning board in August 2021 but faced delays due to traffic concerns. The restaurant resubmitted updated plans for the same location in November 2024.
The new Chick-fil-A will involve demolishing the existing Brick House Tavern + Tap building to make way for a 5,000 square-foot restaurant and approximately 84 parking spaces. The restaurant is expected to employ 120 to 140 people and will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Construction is expected to take about six months once work begins.
To address traffic concerns, Chick-fil-A plans to build a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Erin Street and the Dick’s driveway. Additionally, signage will restrict left turns at the intersection of Dick’s Rear Service Road and Erin Street.
Currently, Chick-fil-A has several locations in the Capital Region, including in Albany, Clifton Park, North Greenbush, Albany International Airport, and at the Thruway Service Area in New Baltimore.
