A popular U.S. fast food chain, Wendy’s, has announced plans to open a new location in York in the coming months.
As reported by YorkMix in September, the former TM Lewin shop on St. Sampson’s Square will be transformed into a Wendy’s burger joint. This new location could mark the 50th Wendy’s to open in the UK.
The York branch is part of Wendy’s rapid expansion across the UK, with five new locations set to open soon. Michael Clarke, Europe MD for The Wendy’s Company, shared his excitement about the expansion: “This year, we will focus on accelerating our expansion efforts so more people across the UK can enjoy Wendy’s craveable menu and exceptional customer hospitality. We have a solid foundation in the market and believe we are well-positioned to accelerate our growth trajectory even further.”
Although a specific opening date has not been announced, a Wendy’s spokesperson confirmed that the new York location will create between 30 and 40 jobs.
Wendy’s will offer a variety of its popular menu items, such as the “Baconator” – a burger topped with crispy Applewood smoked bacon, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and their iconic Frosty dessert. The restaurant will also feature UK-specific options, including the Avocado Chicken Club, several types of Chicken Wraps, and chicken nuggets.
New menu additions include halloumi fries and cinnamon mini doughnuts, dusted with sugar and cinnamon. Additionally, there will be a separate breakfast menu for customers to enjoy.
The York location will bring more choice to fast food fans, offering both classic Wendy’s favorites and items tailored to local tastes.
