American fast food giant Wendy’s has announced it will open its first restaurant in Scotland, located in Glasgow.
The company revealed today that its 50th UK location will be launched in the coming months. This marks a significant milestone in Wendy’s UK expansion plans.
The fast food chain had previously submitted a proposal to take over the unit at 139 Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. The new Glasgow location will be part of a broader expansion, with five new restaurants set to open across the UK, including in Blackpool, Grays (Lakeside), Watford, and York. The expansion will create more than 150 jobs in total.
Michael Clarke, European Managing Director at Wendy’s, shared the company’s optimism about the UK market. “We see huge potential in the UK market, with plans to open more than 150 new restaurants across the UK and surrounding countries by 2028,” he said.
Clarke emphasized the company’s focus on expanding its presence this year. “This year, we will concentrate on accelerating our growth efforts so more people across the UK can enjoy Wendy’s menu and exceptional customer service,” he added.
With a strong foundation already established in the UK, Wendy’s is positioning itself for further growth and success in the region.
