Wendy’s is considering Marshfield for a potential new restaurant location.
A spokesperson for the fast-food chain shared with the Marshfield News-Herald that the company is actively looking for potential franchisees interested in opening single or multi-unit restaurants in Marshfield, as well as nearby cities like Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, and Stevens Point.
While Wendy’s has not yet selected a specific location or set a timeline for the Marshfield restaurant, the company is focused on expanding its presence in Wisconsin through its Build-to-Suit development fund.
The company is targeting Marshfield due to the area’s “promising business landscape” and its “significant unmet potential.”
Wendy’s hopes to serve the growing demand in the region by providing more restaurant options for local customers.
The Build-to-Suit program will allow Wendy’s to collaborate with franchisees to find ideal locations. Once a site is chosen, Wendy’s will secure the real estate, build the restaurant, and hand over the completed location to the franchisee.
Brandon Rohrbach, the director of global strategic development & analysis at The Wendy’s Company, expressed excitement about offering entrepreneurs in Marshfield the chance to become Wendy’s franchisees. “We are thrilled to offer entrepreneurs in Marshfield the opportunity to grow with us,” he said. “This effort is part of our broader mission to bring more Wendy’s to more people globally.”
Wendy’s has recently expanded in central Wisconsin. The company opened a new location in Crossroads Commons in Plover on November 9. Previously, a Wendy’s in Stevens Point closed in 2017 and became a Qdoba, while locations in Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids also closed, in 2012 and 2007, respectively. A Wendy’s in Weston closed last year and was replaced by Fuzzy’s Taco Shop.
Wendy’s is now looking to re-enter the region with this potential new restaurant in Marshfield, aiming to meet customer needs and strengthen its presence across central Wisconsin.
