A new Wendy’s restaurant will open in the Wausau metro area on Tuesday, marking the return of the fast-food chain after a two-and-a-half-year absence.
Located next to Walgreens at 5401 Business Highway 51 in Weston, the new restaurant will employ approximately 30 people. Wendy’s is known for its hamburgers, sandwiches, and sides like chili and baked potatoes. Prior to this opening, the nearest Wendy’s in Wisconsin was in Appleton.
Founded by Dave Thomas in Ohio in 1969, Wendy’s became famous for its square beef patties. The chain has expanded over the years, reaching a milestone of 7,000 locations worldwide in 2022.
