Pizza Hut Japan is introducing a bold new menu item this month, the Buta Hut Atsugiri Noukou Seabura Shoyu Ramen Pizza, a unique fusion that combines the indulgence of pizza with the rich flavors of Jiro-style ramen.
Named the “Pork Hut Thick-Cut Rich Backfat Soy Sauce Ramen Pizza” in English, this creation draws inspiration from the renowned Jiro-style ramen, famous for its huge, hearty toppings. Originating from the Ramen Jiro chain, this noodle style has gained a loyal following of fans known as “Jirolians,” who are passionate about the genre’s oversized portions and intense flavors.
The new pizza offers a generous topping of domestically sourced pork back fat, which gives it a “melty” texture. It also features cabbage for a hint of sweetness, seasoned chashu pork for an authentic ramen flavor, and thick noodles that bring the dish together. The standout feature is a special garlic-infused sauce made with three types of blended pork bones, designed to replicate the depth and richness of ramen broth.
Pizza Hut has paired the pizza with a unique option: Suntory Black Oolong Tea, which is said to help suppress fat absorption, adding a more health-conscious balance to the decadent dish. The pizza alone is priced at ¥2,750 (US$17.79) for delivery or ¥2,350 for takeout, while the tea set comes to ¥2,940 for delivery or ¥2,540 for takeout.
The new ramen pizza, available from February 3 to March 9, offers a truly indulgent experience. Early reactions have been mixed, with some customers noting that the noodles interfere with the pizza experience, while others enjoyed the overall combination. However, all agreed that the pork was a standout feature, living up to the “Buta Hut” name.
