ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – After months of anticipation, the first Starbucks in downtown Rockford is now open to the public.
The new coffee shop, located at 211 W. State St., occupies a long-vacant building. The opening is part of a redevelopment initiative by Urban Equity Properties.
“This is a huge step forward for downtown,” said Mayor Tom McNamara. “This building has been empty for almost my entire life. To see it revived, especially with a well-known brand like Starbucks, is truly exciting.”
The Starbucks will be open daily, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
The city first revealed plans for the development in August 2024.
