Starbucks Korea has announced a price hike for 22 of its beverages, effective January 24. The price of its popular Tall Americano will increase by 200 won, reaching 4,700 won ($3.25). This is the third price increase by the coffee giant in just five months, largely driven by higher coffee bean and operational costs.
For the first time in three years, the prices of Starbucks Korea’s two best-selling drinks—Americano and cafe latte—will rise.
Other popular drinks such as cappuccino, caramel macchiato, and grapefruit honey black tea will also see price increases of 200 won for both Tall and Short sizes. Additionally, larger sizes of drinks like cold brew, milk tea, and yuzu mint tea will also go up by 200 won.
“Today’s Coffee,” which rotates coffee bean selections daily, will see a price hike of 300 won for Tall and Short sizes, while Grande and Venti sizes will rise by 100 won.
However, not all prices are going up. Ten drinks, including the Jeju matcha latte, will remain the same, and one will even become cheaper.
Starbucks Korea explained that the price adjustments were necessary due to the rising costs of coffee beans, fluctuations in the exchange rate, and other operational expenses. A company official stated, “We’ve tried to minimize the impact on customers, but the cost pressures left us with no choice.”
Starbucks is not the only coffee chain raising prices. Paul Bassett, another premium coffee brand, will increase prices on 28 products starting January 23, with hikes ranging from 200 to 400 won. The price of a Cafe Latte will rise to 5,900 won, while ice cream will increase to 4,300 won. This marks the brand’s first price increase in almost three years.
Other coffee brands have also adjusted their prices recently. In November 2024, Dong Suh Foods raised factory prices for instant coffee and coffee mixes by an average of 8.9%. Coffee Bean Korea and budget-friendly chain The Venti have also increased prices in 2024.
