SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Springfield’s southwest side continues to see new developments, with Chick-fil-A joining the expansion plans.
The company confirmed to OzarksFirst that it will open a new restaurant at 3801 West Sunshine, a site previously occupied by Southside Auto Sales, located just west of McCurry Avenue. This new location will not replace the existing Chick-fil-A at 425 West Sunshine near Campbell Avenue.
A Chick-fil-A spokesperson told OzarksFirst, “We’re excited to announce that we plan to open a new Chick-fil-A on W. Sunshine Street in late Fall 2025 or early 2026, depending on any delays. While still in the early stages, we look forward to offering our delicious food and exceptional service to new guests.”
This upcoming location will be the sixth Chick-fil-A in Springfield. Other existing stores include those on W. Sunshine, N. Glenstone (which opened in January 2024), S. Glenstone, and inside Battlefield Mall and the Missouri State University campus. The company also operates locations in Nixa and Branson.
In preparation for the new opening, Chick-fil-A will be hiring dozens of new employees. The company emphasized its commitment to community impact, noting that each locally owned and operated restaurant typically creates between 80 and 120 jobs.
“We believe in positively impacting the communities we serve,” the company stated. “Our Owner-Operators focus on developing team members, supporting local businesses, and tailoring our philanthropic efforts to meet local needs.”
The new Chick-fil-A will be part of a growing retail and restaurant scene near West Bypass and W. Sunshine Street. Nearby projects include the Sunshine Towne Center, which will feature a Target, an Olive Garden, and additional businesses yet to be announced.
Chick-fil-A isn’t the only chicken chain expanding in Springfield. Huey Magoos is building a new location at the intersection of Battlefield Road and Fremont Street, its second in the city. The first is on East Sunshine near Ingram Mill Road. Huey Magoos also recently opened in Ozark and is constructing another site in Republic.
