Plans for Second Wendy’s Drive-Thru in Peterborough Move Forward

by Nick

Plans to open a second Wendy’s drive-thru in Peterborough have taken a significant step forward. Approval is being sought to convert a former fast food restaurant into a drive-thru for the American burger chain.

An application has been submitted to Peterborough City Council to install the necessary fixtures and fittings in the old Frankie and Benny’s restaurant located at Cygnet Park, Hampton. The plans to establish this new Wendy’s outlet were first announced in May, following the closure of the Frankie and Benny’s unit over a year ago.

The franchise operator, Blank Table, is requesting permission to create a new circular road around the restaurant. This road will allow vehicles to queue in a clockwise direction while customers place their orders, make payments, and collect their food at different points as they move around the building.

The construction of this new access road will result in the loss of five parking spaces, leaving a total of 155 spaces available.

The first Wendy’s drive-thru in Peterborough opened last October at the entrance of Bourges View business park on Maskew Avenue, creating 50 jobs.

Carl Morris, chief executive of Blank Table, previously shared with the Peterborough Telegraph that the company aims to create up to 1,500 jobs in East Anglia over the next three to four years, with plans for a head office in Peterborough. He emphasized that Wendy’s unique selling point is its commitment to quality and fresh food.
