Starbucks is partnering with Universal Pictures to celebrate the release of the film Wicked by launching new themed beverages and merchandise. These products will be available starting November 20 in select Asia-Pacific markets.
To coincide with the movie’s debut, Starbucks has created two limited-time drinks inspired by the characters Glinda and Elphaba. The Glinda-inspired Mango Dragonfruit beverage features coconut milk and ruby-red cookie crumbs, evoking the character’s signature pink potion.
Meanwhile, Elphaba’s Cold Brew combines Starbucks Cold Brew with matcha foam and a hint of peppermint.
These beverages will be offered in Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. In addition to the drinks, Starbucks will introduce a range of merchandise including cold cups, tumblers, keychains, and Starbucks Cards featuring Wicked-themed designs. This merchandise will be available in Australia, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Samuel Fung, vice president of product and marketing at Starbucks Asia-Pacific, expressed excitement about the collaboration. He stated that as Wicked makes its long-awaited big-screen debut, Starbucks is thrilled to celebrate its themes of friendship and community. He emphasized that this partnership invites customers to connect over Wicked-inspired beverages and merchandise in a magical setting.
The film Wicked, which is based on the popular musical adapted from Gregory Maguire’s novel, will be released in theaters on November 22.
The partnership between Starbucks and Universal Pictures aims to create memorable experiences for fans of both the film and the coffee chain.
