A new McDonald’s location in Salmon Arm is set to open its doors this week, and it’s starting off with a charitable cause.
The restaurant, located at 2991 9th Ave. SW near Walmart, will officially open to the public at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, following a VIP ribbon-cutting event the evening before.
To mark the occasion, the new McDonald’s will host a fundraiser in support of the Shuswap Children’s Association. The event will see $1 from every Happy Meal sold during the opening week donated to the local non-profit, according to a press release issued on Nov. 4.
“The Shuswap Children’s Association has been a key partner for us over the years, and it’s a cause that means a lot to our McDonald’s team,” said Chris Erickson, owner/operator of several McDonald’s restaurants in the North Okanagan-Shuswap region, including the new Salmon Arm location.
“We have team members whose children benefit from the services the association provides, so we’re excited to give back and help raise funds to support their ongoing work in the community,” Erickson added.
The fundraiser is part of McDonald’s commitment to supporting local organizations, with the Shuswap Children’s Association being a longtime partner of the fast-food chain.
