Wendy’s, the popular fast-food chain, has opened a new restaurant in Irmo, located at 10601 Broad River Road. This new outlet is situated just a few miles northwest of Interstate 26, near the intersection with Dutch Fork Road.
The town of Irmo announced the grand opening on Facebook, inviting residents and visitors to “get ready to savor those hamburgers, fries, and Frosty shakes.” The new Wendy’s adds to a bustling retail corridor that features several other dining options, including McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, Arby’s, and Freddy’s, as well as a San Jose Mexican restaurant. A Walmart Supercenter is also nearby, and the area recently welcomed its first Whataburger.
More development is on the horizon for this busy area. A Biscuitville restaurant is currently under construction next to Wendy’s, with plans for a winter opening. This section of Broad River Road sees significant traffic, with about 21,000 vehicles passing through daily, according to state Department of Transportation data.
Wendy’s operates over 6,000 locations in the United States, including 139 in South Carolina. In Columbia alone, there are 11 Wendy’s restaurants and three in Lexington. Earlier this year, Wendy’s opened another location on Platt Springs Road near Red Bank in Lexington County. Known for its cheeseburgers, Frosty desserts, and chicken nuggets, Wendy’s has recently introduced a new product line called Saucy Nuggs, which come pre-dipped in various flavors.
