A new Chick-fil-A restaurant will open in McDonough on Thursday, November 7, marking the second drive-thru-only location in Henry County. Located at the intersection of State Route 20 and Willow Lane, the new restaurant will provide local residents with convenient access to the fast-food chain’s popular offerings.
This new Chick-fil-A is an extension of the existing McDonough location on the opposite side of I-75. The drive-thru-only format will streamline service, offering drive-thru, carry-out, and Mobile Thru orders. The restaurant will not have dine-in seating.
The store will operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A has donated $25,000 to Feeding America, which will support local hunger relief efforts through the Atlanta Community Food Bank, a partner of Feeding America. Additionally, the McDonough restaurant will honor 100 local heroes—individuals making a positive impact in the community—by offering them free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
The new location will create 60 full-time and part-time job opportunities for local residents.
Jesse Gilchrist, the owner-operator of both the new Chick-fil-A and the original McDonough location, will oversee the new store. Gilchrist, who has led the McDonough Chick-fil-A since 2016, began his career at Truett’s Grill in McDonough.
“I’m deeply grateful and honored to be opening another restaurant in the community I’ve proudly called home for over 20 years,” Gilchrist said. “Chick-fil-A is about more than just our delicious food—it’s about creating a place where people feel truly cared for. I’m excited for the opportunity to reach even more guests in our community that we can show genuine care to.”
The restaurant is situated at 50 Willow Lane, McDonough, previously the site of a QuikTrip convenience store, which relocated last year closer to I-75. In November 2022, the McDonough City Council approved Chick-fil-A’s plan to redevelop the site.
In addition, a highway expansion project is underway in the area. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is widening Georgia 20 between Willow Lane and Phillips Drive. Once completed in 2025, the road will feature four travel lanes and sidewalks.
