Adorable puppy-themed pies bring a touch of cuteness to the autumn menu.
On October 9, McDonald’s Japan introduced two new sweet pies, but it wasn’t just the flavors that caught everyone’s attention—it was the packaging. The pies are part of the chain’s seasonal Sankaku (Triangle) Choco Pie range, featuring the return of the Black Sankaku Choco Pie, which has an updated recipe, and a new addition, the Sweet Potato and Caramel Sankaku Choco Pie, inspired by autumn flavors.
While customers have been praising the pies for their delicious taste, it’s the adorable packaging that’s stealing the spotlight. The Black Sankaku Choco Pie comes in a box adorned with an illustration of a cute black Shiba Inu, while the Sweet Potato and Caramel pie has a charming design featuring a Shiba Inu in purplish-brown, representing the dessert’s flavors. The kanji for “potato” (芋) is even playfully placed on the dog’s nose.
Comments from excited customers include:
“OMG I have to buy these!”
“I want to eat the black Shiba Inu!”
“The Imo Shiba looks like a fox!”
“These are the cutest things I’ve ever seen at McDonald’s!”
“So adorable — makes me want to buy them both!”
These pies are some of the cutest treats McDonald’s has released, but they won’t be available for long. The Sweet Potato and Caramel pie will be on the menu until early November, while the Black Sankaku Choco Pie will be available until late December. Fans looking to try these adorable treats should visit soon, and they can also check out the limited-time Samurai Mac burgers featuring Hello Kitty.
