For those who have always been curious about the Big Mac but aren’t fans of beef, McDonald’s is now offering a new twist. Starting on October 10, the fast food giant will introduce the Chicken Big Mac in the United States for a limited time, giving McChicken lovers the opportunity to try a chicken-based version of the classic sandwich.
The Chicken Big Mac features all the same ingredients as the original, but swaps out the two beef patties for two crispy chicken patties. The sandwich still includes a sesame seed bun, pickles, lettuce, onions, American cheese, and the iconic Big Mac sauce.
Although this is the first time the Chicken Big Mac will be available nationwide in the U.S., it’s not completely new to McDonald’s fans. In 2022, the sandwich was tested in Miami, and earlier that year, it launched in the United Kingdom, where it became the chain’s most successful debut ever. The Chicken Big Mac sold out in many locations within just 10 days. Recently, McDonald’s even surprised diners in Los Angeles with a pop-up event, disguised as a restaurant called McDonnell’s, where customers could try the Chicken Big Mac under the name “The Chicken Sandwich.”
This latest menu addition comes as McDonald’s looks to boost sales amid rising inflation. Earlier this year, the company launched a $5 value box to attract more budget-conscious customers. The deal sparked competition among other fast food chains, with Taco Bell and Subway introducing similar offers. McDonald’s has since extended the $5 meal promotion until December, following its initial success. Data from Placer.ai showed a significant increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s locations during the first week of the promotion, with visits up between 5.4% and 7.9% compared to the previous year.
As McDonald’s continues to introduce new items and promotions, the Chicken Big Mac is expected to attract both loyal customers and those eager to try something new.
