Burger King Announces Three Finalists for $1 Million Whopper Contest

Burger King has revealed the three finalists in its inaugural Million.

Dollar Whopper Contest, which invited fans to create their dream Whopper recipes. The contest began in February, allowing customers to submit their unique ingredient combinations for a chance to win $1 million and have their creations featured in restaurants nationwide.

After receiving over one million submissions, Burger King’s team of flame-grilled experts selected the top three entries.

These fan-created Whoppers will be available at participating locations this fall, while supplies last. Customers will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite creation, with the winner receiving the grand prize.

Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper: Created by Fabian from California, this burger features a quarter-pound beef patty topped with pickle ranch dressing, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon, and Swiss cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.

Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper: Created by Calvin from California, this option includes a quarter-pound beef patty topped with maple bourbon BBQ sauce, crispy onions, jalapeños, maple bacon seasoning, bacon, and American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.

Mexican Street Corn Whopper: Created by Kelsie from Nebraska, this burger consists of a quarter-pound beef patty topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, Southwest-seasoned tortilla crisps, and Mexican spicy queso on a toasted sesame seed bun.

Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer for Burger King North America, expressed enthusiasm about the contest. “The Million Dollar Whopper Contest was all about taking ‘Have It Your Way’ to the next level,” he stated. “Selecting just three finalists was no easy task. We’re confident guests will love these creative takes on the iconic Whopper sandwich.”

Voting details for the winning Whopper will be announced in mid-November.

The Whopper has been a staple of Burger King’s menu since its debut in 1957 and is widely regarded as a cultural icon. The Million Dollar Whopper Contest is part of a broader strategy at Burger King to innovate its offerings and engage customers in new ways.

In addition to this contest, Burger King has launched its “Reclaim the Flame” campaign, which focuses on enhancing the quality and branding of its signature Whopper. The company has invested $250 million to upgrade its restaurants with modern cooking equipment and technology while maintaining the essence of the beloved sandwich. An additional $300 million has been allocated for further store renovations.

As Burger King continues to evolve its menu and customer engagement strategies, fans can look forward to trying these creative new Whoppers later this year.
