A new KFC restaurant is set to take the place of a vacant spot in a Wellington business park, with plans to open by late October.
Summerfield Commercial has secured a lease with KFC for a drive-thru location situated at the front of the business park, along the main A38.
This site is conveniently located less than a mile from junction 26 of the M5 and just over a mile from the center of Wellington.
The fast-food chain plans to open its doors on October 31, creating 30 new jobs for the local community.
The opening of the new KFC was initially delayed after the original operator for the drive-thru went into administration.
However, plans have now resumed, much to the delight of Ben Trickey, the commercial director of Summerfield Commercial.
He expressed that the arrival of KFC is positive news for both the business park and the town, as it has been highly anticipated.
“We are thrilled to welcome KFC to Westpark. The restaurant will officially open to the public on October 31, 2024,” Trickey stated. “This marks the completion of the last of the frontage plots in the park and is a fantastic addition to the mix of businesses and amenities available.”
Sarah Rees-Davis from KFC UKI commented, “We are excited to open at the strategically located Westpark later next month.
We look forward to serving the local community alongside other thriving and diverse operators.”
Rees-Davis added, “This opening is particularly significant for us as Wellington will be the first of several new locations across the South West in the coming years. KFC is focused on strengthening its presence in this region.”
